Farm and Table Market

at Grassy Creek Farm

Our family farm starts with a daunting search for the perfect place. That feeling when you step foot on to the land and just know, THIS WAS IT. It took 2 years, but we accidently found our perfect little homestead in Bullock, NC right on Kerr Lake. That was 2014 and we called it Grassy Creek Farm. That is the beginning of our little farm, not the beginning of our story. You see I have grown up a 3rd generation Hereford breeder. My grandfather and his twin brother started Kern Farms in Laharpe,IL in the 1960's. This is where my father, and eventually I would be born.

Soon after I was born my father got an offer he couldn't refuse, to manage a beautiful Hereford farm in Mocksville NC. Thats where my sister was born, and our NC story began. Years of purebred cattle production and showing all over the country gaining experience and knowledge firsthand at one of the top Hereford Farms in the east.

In the 90's my father took the job as the Beef Herd Manager at NCSU where he worked until retirement.

Living on a farm in the city proved challenging but having both parents growing up in the agriculture industry, they understood the importance of staying informed and rooted in ag. Besides the experiences we already had, we gained a scientific approach, which opened up a whole new perspective into livestock management. Besides the many clinics, classes and talks with professors, we engaged in Livestock showing and Judging. With this lifelong great adventure there was still something missing.

It's one thing to manage someone else's farm but at the end of the day you want something of your own. I met and married my amazing husband, and we have 3 girls. Everyone always asks me how I ended up with a city boy from Massachusetts. I always reply, I didn't want anyone trying to tell me how to breed my cows. lol. Fast forward to today he has done just that. We will be offering Wagyu x meat next spring. Although he is an electrician by trade, he has a passion for carpentry which reflects in his many woodcraft products on the site.

We are very excited to see where this adventure takes us. A swine professor once told me that most pork tastes the same except Berkshire pork. It is always stuck with me and have decided to add Berkshires to the mix.

We strive to use our years of experience to offer the best product to you. We look forward to serving you at this woman owned, family run,

Farm and Table Market.
